Metrocare Services operates a pharmacy onsite at Bluebonnet Trails Community Center (“BTCS”). Metrocare values the confidentiality and privacy of the individuals receiving services. This notice is regarding an incident against Metrocare that may have involved some of BTCS’s community members’ information

On November 17, 2017, Metrocare learned an unauthorized third party gained access into email accounts of some Metrocare employees. Metrocare immediately took steps to secure the accounts and began an investigation, which included hiring an outside forensic firm to assist in the investigation. The investigation determined the unauthorized access occurred between August 15, 2017 and November 17, 2017, and could not rule out whether emails containing individuals’ information were accessed by the third party. Some BTCS community members’ information was included in the email account, and may have included the names, dates of birth, and prescription history/information for some BTCS members.

Metrocare has not received any indication that any of the information in the email accounts has been misused. As a general rule, Metrocare recommends BTCS members review all health care related statements they receive, and be alert for any health care services they did not receive from any of the providers. If you see any charges services you did not receive, please promptly contact the provider of those services.

We regret any inconvenience or concern this incident may cause the BTCS community. To help prevent something like this from happening in the future, we are taking steps to add additional security measures to our current information technology infrastructure. We have established a dedicated call center to answer questions the BTCS community may have regarding this incident. If you have any questions, please call at 1-833-214-8742, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, Central Time.
