(1017) Counselor/LPHA Eligibility Specialist

Job Description

This position provides eligibility assessments for children birth to age 3 to determine if they meet the eligibility requirements for ECI services. This position will also provide mental health, developmental, and educational services to infants, toddlers and families through assessment of needs, development of service plans, direct service, and service coordination. Direct mental health services include assessment of emotional development and the effect on overall development. Other services include consultation with staff and providing reflective supervision as needed in small groups or individually. In addition, the LPC will participate in strategic planning for delivery of mental health services by the program. Knowledge of typical and atypical development in children birth to three years old and the ability to work sensitively with families from a variety of cultural orientations is critical. Exemplary communication skills are necessary in order to interface with individuals served, accurately document service provision, and work with community partners as part of linking families to other needed resources. The purpose for the position is to determine initial eligibility using the Battelle Developmental Inventory as well as to provide educational, material, and emotion support to families so the child can learn throughout the day and to support the attachment between the parent and the child. Services are provided in the settings where the child lives, learns, and plays.
