The Employment Specialist works with individuals that have a diagnosis of mental illness and other disabilities, and provides them with training and supports to secure and maintain competitive employment. Services include, but are not limited to, assessment, job matching, job development, job coaching and skills training, and follow-along supports. The Employment Specialist must have good communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with individuals, families, employers, government agencies, and other service providers. The ability to communicate with employers and develop employment opportunities within the business community is essential. The Employment Specialist must complete all required training and maintain training current. The Employment Specialist provides services in Williamson County, but may be required to serve other counties as needed and assigned. The Employment Specialist works a variable schedule and must be available to meet the employment needs of individuals, which may occasionally include weekends and hours other than 8 – 5. Applicants must have an inclination to work with people that have multiple challenges. Must maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment.
|Credentials||Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or a related human services field, and at least six months of paid or unpaid experience working with people that have disabilities. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.|
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum one year providing employment services to people that have mental illness and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities. IPS-SE trained, and have UNT credentials for Job Skills Training, Job Placement, and Supported Employment.
