Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, the service specialist provides direct care services to individuals with developmental disabilities to support them in reaching their maximum level of independence for daily living situations. The service specialist is required to work with individuals who may display physical, emotional, and or behavioral challenges that are a challenge to environments and people with whom they interact. The service specialist must have the ability to teach and model adaptive behaviors, fully implement training programs, and assist individuals with activities of daily living including toileting, medication assistance as well as other necessary assistance. A Service Specialist must also communicate effectively with individuals served and accurately document observations and services provided. All services are provided in compliance with Medicaid rules. The Service Specialist must have the ability to stay current in all center required training, work variable hours when needed to provide adequate coverage and work in variable work settings. This position may support numerous programs – Waiver, GR, and PASRR. Typical Hours Mon-Fri 8-5 — May vary based on center need
|Credentials||Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; Valid Texas Driver’s License.|
Preferred Qualifications: 6 months working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or a nursing facility setting.
