Job Description

This position performs responsible professional nursing work or professional administrative nursing work in both clinic and field settings. This position is also responsible for the care and treatment of clients in accordance with accepted professional, legal and ethical nursing standards. Primary responsibilities include medication monitoring and administration, client assessments, laboratory collections and interpretation of results, client and family education regarding medications, mental illness and mental health.

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications:
1. Graduated from an accredited school of nursing; licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas; B.S. preferred, with one of the following criteria:
a. RN w/Masters in psychiatric/mental health nursing and, within the last 3 years, experience in a psychiatric acute treatment unit, psych home care, psych outpatient services, etc.
b. RN w/Bachelors in general nursing and at least 3 year of recent nursing experience in a psychiatric acute treatment unit, psych home care, psych outpatient services, etc.
c. RN with Associate in general nursing and at least 5 years of recent nursing experience in a psychiatric acute treatment unit, psych home care, psych outpatient services, etc.
2. Ability to work collaboratively and build a multidisciplinary professional team.
3. Ability to demonstrate understanding and support of agency policies, legal considerations and professional ethics.
4. Pass standard State and Federal Background check. Applicants who are listed as “revoked” in the Nurse Aide Registry, listed as “unemployable” in the Employee Misconduct Registry or on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities for Medicaid fraud will be ineligible.
5. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS Office applications. Able to type at least 40 words per minute.
6. Current CPR certification
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
8. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications: RN w/experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing and, within the last 3 years, experience in a psychiatric acute treatment unit, psych home care, psych outpatient services, etc.
Psych certified by Medicare or experience qualifying for same. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and DME regulations, JCAHO, DHS, local state and federal regulations. Psychiatric Certification. Bilingual – Spanish and/or ASL. Previous Case Management experience.
