Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Mental Health Specialist is a member of the Crisis Team at the Seguin EOU and is designed to provide a safe and and secure environment for short-term stabilization of behavioral health symptoms and linkage to community services. This service is provided in both an involuntary and voluntary setting. The Mental Health Specialist will be proficient in therapeutic interactions and provide direct client supervision. The Mental Health Specialist will complete associated documentation for the client and the program. The Mental Health Specialist will be trained to provide administrative back up functions to assist in the unit and will follow the direction of the RN on duty.
|Credentials||Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.|
Preferred Qualifications: Certified Nursing Specialist preferred but not required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. CPR Certified preferred but can be certified after hire along with Psychological First Aid Training. Preferred previous related experience working in mental health or developmental disabilities with the population served but not required.
