Job Description

This Position provides psychiatric care primarily or exclusively by telemedicine to a full caseload (based on % FTE) of patients with psychiatric disorders (including opiate use disorders). The Position is responsible primarily for the delivery of professional care and competent services to adults, adolescents, and/or children (depending upon preference and qualification) in the areas of psychiatric evaluation, medication management, treatment planning, emergency evaluations in crisis settings (including crisis residential units). Must also possess or have ability to obtain DEA waiver for prescribing of buprenorphine, and to be able to provide substance use disorder detox services. Familiar with current psychiatric diagnosis and treatment. Must have the ability to provide services via telemedicine to multiple clinic locations, including primarily or exclusively to other contracted community mental health centers (to be established prior to offer of a position, and may be the sole determinant of percent FTE available for this position and continuing support for the position). Must be able to document services using an electronic medical record as selected by the clinic site. The Position is responsible for ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, billing code requirements, and will complete records in a timely manner using the designated medical record system. Other duties include consultation with staff, treatment team participation, participation in the on call schedule (by phone, and if > 50% FTE) and coordination with other professionals.

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications:
Psychiatrist: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. By hire date: Certification of completion of residency in psychiatry; Current, active license to practice medicine in Texas as issued by the Texas Medical Board; Current, active Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, including DATA 2000 waiver (or in process of obtaining); unrestricted eligibility to participate in provider network for Medicare/Medicaid/other third party payers.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN): Registered Nurse with recognition from Texas Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with Prescriptive Authority for adult, child and adolescent psychiatric disorders; current, active license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Texas as issued by the Texas Board of Nursing; Current, active Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration including DATA 2000 waiver; unrestricted eligibility to participate in provider network for Medicare/Medicaid/other third party payers. Will consider candidates in process of obtaining above certifications and licensure.

Physician Assistant (PA): Current, active Texas PA license as issued by the Texas Medical Board; Current, active Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration including DATA 2000 waiver (or in process of obtaining); unrestricted eligibility to participate in provider network for Medicare/Medicaid/other third party payers. Will consider candidates in process of obtaining above certifications and licensure.

Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Psychiatrist: Board Certification in Psychiatry and/or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
• APRN: Certification as Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (PMHNP-BC)
• PA: 3 years or more experience in providing psychiatric services
• DEA DATA 2000 Waiver (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire) for treatment of individuals with opiate use disorders.
