Under the direct supervision of the IDD Crisis Intervention Specialist, the service specialist provides direct care services to individuals with development disabilities to support them in reaching their maximum level of independence for daily living situations. The service specialist is required to work with individuals who may display physical, emotional, and or behavioral challenges that are a challenge to environments and people with whom they interact. The service specialist must have the ability to teach and model adaptive behaviors, fully implement training programs, assist individuals with activities of daily living, communicate effectively with individuals served and accurately document observations and services provided. All services are provided in compliance with HCS, TXHL, ICF-MR Medicaid rules, and DADS. The Service Specialist must have the ability to stay current in all center required training, work variable hours when needed to provide adequate consumer coverage and work in variable work settings.
|Credentials||Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, plus six (6) months full time experience in working with people with developmental disabilities. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.|
Preferred Qualifications: Additional education or experience relevant to supporting individuals with concurrent developmental disabilities and a behavioral health condition.
