Under the direct supervision of the Director of Peer Services or designee the Mental Health Peer Specialist will provide Peer Support Services. A MHPS will provide peer support, Person-Centered Planning, Wellness Recovery Action Planning, Whole Health Action Management, Seeking Safety and Recovery Dialogue. The primary responsibility of peers is to help individuals identify and achieve their own needs, wants and goals. The Mental Health Peer Specialist will facilitate and document individual and group services at mental health clinics, transitional housing, and in the community. The MHPS will work closely with Case Managers, Nursing Staff, Counselors, Management and other BBT staff to ensure continuity of care for the individuals receiving services. The MHPS may be asked to work a variable schedule with some evenings as needed.
|Credentials||Minimum Qualifications: Lived Experience with recovery from Mental Health challenges. Certification must be obtained within six months of employment. High School Diploma or equivalent, Valid Texas Driver’s License. |
Preferred Qualifications: Currently Certified by the state of Texas as a Certified Mental Health Peer Specialist. Hold current certification in WRAP. Hold the following endorsements – Re-entry endorsement, Co-Occurring endorsement, WHAM practitioner, Seeking Safety practitioner, IPS training, 3+ years’ experience working as a Mental Health Peer Specialist.
