Job Description

This Position, under proper delegation/supervision by a physician, provides psychiatric care in person and by telemedicine to a full caseload (based on % FTE) of adult and child/adolescent patients with psychiatric disorders, primarily served through the Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments (TCOOMMI) program and various county jails. The Position is responsible for the delivery of professional care and competent services in the areas of psychiatric evaluation, medication management, treatment planning, emergency evaluations in an outpatient setting and/or correctional setting. Familiar with current psychiatric diagnosis and treatment. The Position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Bluebonnet Trails’ policies, procedures, and billing code requirements; and is responsible for completing records in a timely manner using the designated electronic medical record system. Other duties include consultation with staff, treatment team participation, and coordination with other professionals.

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN): Registered Nurse with recognition from Texas Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with Prescriptive Authority for adult, child and adolescent psychiatric disorders; current, active license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Texas as issued by the Texas Board of Nursing; Current, active Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (or in process). Unrestricted eligibility to participate in provider network for Medicare/Medicaid/other third party payers. Will consider candidates in process of obtaining above certifications and licensure.

Physician Assistant (PA): Current, active Texas PA license as issued by the Texas Medical Board; Current, active Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (or in process of obtaining); unrestricted eligibility to participate in provider network for Medicare/Medicaid/other third party payers. Will consider candidates in process of obtaining above certifications and licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Psychiatrist: Board Certification in Psychiatry and/or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
• APRN: 2 years or more experience in providing psychiatric services PA: 2 years or more experience in providing psychiatric services
• DEA DATA 2000 Waiver (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire) for treatment of individuals with opiate use disorders.
