Job Description

This position requires that one have a dual role as a Behavioral Health Counselor and Behavioral Health Consultant. This is an exciting, and dynamic position which allows one to work in our Integrated Health Care clinic in the Bastrop ISD. A person in this unique position must feel confident working independently, be efficient at time management, and have wide range of clinical experience, including working with children, adolescents and families.

As a Behavioral Health Counselor, one will provide therapeutic mental health services to youth and families in accordance with best-practice standards, evidence-based interventions and individualized recovery planning. Therapies might include, but are not limited to, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Counseling services will be provided in BTCS’ facilities/offices, and or in the community and may be provided in vivo or via Tele-Video, as appropriate and approved by the Clinical Director. This position will have the opportunity to participate in and/or lead community education, engagement and outreach events and programming (i.e. groups, workshops, classes, courses).

As a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) one will work as a member of the Primary Care Clinic’s healthcare team who assists the primary care manager (PCM) in managing the overall health of their enrolled population. The BHC’s goals are to help improve recognition, treatment and management of psychosocial/behavioral problems and medical conditions in the enrolled population. The BHC provides consultation services to all patients referred by the Primary Care Team. The BHC’s primary role is that of a consultant, however, each clinic setting is unique and requires clinical flexibility.

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university with a current licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a master’s degree in psychology, counseling or related field and licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or PhD in clinical psychology from an accredited college or university, current licensure by the State of Texas as a licensed clinical psychologist. The candidate will be credentialed through Bluebonnet Trails Community Services.

Preferred Qualifications: LCSW; Fluency in Spanish
