Job Description

This position provides occupational therapy to infants, toddlers and families through direct occupational therapy, consultation and service coordination. Knowledge of typical and atypical development, particularly motor development, fine motor skills and sensory development is required. Knowledge and expertise in treatment methodologies in children birth to three years old and the ability to work sensitively with families from a variety of cultural orientations is critical. Exemplary communication skills are necessary in order to interface with individuals served, accurately document service provision, and work with community partners as part of linking families to other needed resources. The overall purpose for the position is to provide direct occupational therapy, parent training and educational material to parents and caregivers. All interactions with families and children use Trauma Informed Care principles and use the Coaching Model in the provision of services. The Coaching Model provides strategies and interventions, educational information, material, and emotional support to families while allowing families to have a voice and choice in the services. The philosophy of the program and this position is to provide educational, material, and emotional support to families so the child can learn throughout the day in a variety of typical activities, and to support the attachment between the parent or primary caregiver and child. Services are provided in the setting where the child lives, learns, and plays.

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: High School Diploma and an associate’s degree from an Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. Licensed in the State of Texas as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Knowledge of and experience with infants and toddlers with developmental needs. Must have TX drivers license and maintain approved driving status throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. Ability to read, write and speak Spanish
Salary Amount$28.00 - $30.00 DOE with ECI & Pediatric/hr
