OSAR/Priority Admissions Counselor

Description of Service

Summary of Position: This position is responsible for conducting targeted outreach to individuals with opioid use disorders (OUDs) per DSM 5 criteria; conducting screenings with individuals identified as having an OUD; engaging individuals in a process of informed consent; ensuring timely entry to treatment in accordance with state and federal guidelines and providing overdose prevention education. This position will further be responsible for engaging consumers in brief intervention; motivational counseling; crisis intervention and case management to support continuum of care. The position will be based out of the OSAR office co-located at Austin State Hospital and will require travel to surrounding communities within Region 7 (a 30 county region) to ensure timely service provision. Must have familiarity with Opioid Use Disorders and effective treatment modalities (i.e. Medication Assisted Therapy).

Eligibility

Minimum Qualifications: Must meet the criteria for a LPC-Intern, LMSW (under board approved supervision plan).

Preferred Qualifications: Qualified Credentialed Counselor (LCSW or LPC), LCDC, or LMFT, who is licensed and in good standing in the State of Texas. Must have familiarity with HHSC rules and guidelines with respect to eligibility criteria and availability for HHSC-funded substance abuse treatment services.
