MVPN Assistant Veteran Services Coordinator duties providing support for Service Members, Veterans, and their Family (SMVF) for In the Bluebonnet Trails Community Services service area in Williamson and Burnet Counties. Duties include working with Family Alliance Grant program.

Peer Support services and clinical referrals are provided through a variety of means:

  • Perform basic assessments and planning for SMVF needs.
  • Spend a significant amount of time connecting SMVF to Family Alliance programs or services, reaching conclusions as to the most appropriate services to meet SMVF’s needs, such as mental health care, or Peer-to-Peer engagement.
  • AVCS also supervise volunteer staff who provide services or coordinate services with other community agencies.
  • AVCS may assign the work, train the volunteers, monitor quality of service, make referrals, and develop the program implementation plan.

MVPN Peer Service Coordinator Duties include but not limited to:

  • Developing a plan to provide basic services including supportive counseling and referral to other programs/services/agencies
  • Explain available services and programs to SMVF
  • Refer SMVF to appropriate and vetted programs/agencies for other needed services
  • Coordinate and/or supervise the provision of services provided by volunteers and monitor quality of service.
  • Working with incarcerated veterans in local, county and state jails located in service area
  • Work with Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) mentor coordinator in Williamson County
  • Work with law enforcement, courts and community organization in service area to partner with, educate and familiarize personnel and communities on military cultural awareness and the Military Veterans Peer Network (Basic Training).

Work requires contact with SMVF, care providers, and other professional disciplines and service agencies.

  • Work with other staff in providing technical assistance and coordinating service delivery
  • Work remotely to coordinate the efforts of volunteers, service agencies, and care providers

Eligibility

MVPN Peer Service Coordinator Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (KSA)
• Knowledge of basic elements of Peer Support
• Understanding of program to which assigned
• Knowledge of basic human needs assessment tools
• Ability to develop service plans
• Knowledge of other agencies/programs so that appropriate referrals can be made
• Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and resources in the community
• Some knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatments
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative supervisors, with SMVF, and with care providers and various community organizations
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely
• Ability to coordinate work of volunteers
• Knowledge of the justice system


Education and Experience Requirement
• Must be a veteran or immediate family member (spouse, adult child who has experienced military life as a dependent at age of understanding military culture.
• Degree in Mental Health field preferred but not required;
• Minimum 1 year experience in Military cultural environment


Training Requirement
The following training is required to be completed within 6 month of contract:
• Basic Training Trainer: must be completed to be eligible for additional training
• Bring Everybody In Zone (BEITZ) peer to peer/facilitator training (40 hrs)
• Veterans Court Advocacy and Mentoring (VCAMP): Training for Veterans Treatment Court.

Contract Position

SUD Crisis Case Manager

Description of Service

Under the supervision of the Director of SUD services, this position will provide a combination of functions to include providing co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorder case management, counseling and follow up services, relapse and prevention and screening and referrals to community resources and providers. This position will provide services in the community setting and the Seguin and Gonzales and clinics and be able to partner with law enforcement, the medical community, schools, families, and social services agencies in a collaborative effort to assist persons in need of services. This position requires a flexible work schedule with days, evenings, and on call services as needed. The person in this position is responsible for assisting crisis case managers by providing crisis assessment, intervention, and screening for hospitalization to individuals experiencing a substance use/ mental health crisis. This position is responsible for assessing an individual’s risk of harm to self and/or others and for providing a preliminary screening for outpatient services to the individual currently in crisis. This positions requires an individual who is able to work both independently and collaboratively.

Contract Position

OSAR/Priority Admissions Counselor

Description of Service

Summary of Position: This position is responsible for conducting targeted outreach to individuals with opioid use disorders (OUDs) per DSM 5 criteria; conducting screenings with individuals identified as having an OUD; engaging individuals in a process of informed consent; ensuring timely entry to treatment in accordance with state and federal guidelines and providing overdose prevention education. This position will further be responsible for engaging consumers in brief intervention; motivational counseling; crisis intervention and case management to support continuum of care. The position will be based out of the OSAR office co-located at Austin State Hospital and will require travel to surrounding communities within Region 7 (a 30 county region) to ensure timely service provision. Must have familiarity with Opioid Use Disorders and effective treatment modalities (i.e. Medication Assisted Therapy).

This position will serve OSAR Region 7.

YES Waiver Community Living Supports (CLS) Provider

Description of Service

Description of Service:
CLS facilitate a YES Waiver participant’s independence and integration into the community, while providing assistance to the family caregiver in the disability-related care of the participant.

CLS provide a curriculum-based skills training to a participant for skills that are affected by the participant’s serious emotional disturbance (SED) as identified in the Wraparound Plan.

Training can be related to activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, household chores and socialization. CLS may also promote communication, relationship-building skills and integration into community activities. These supports must be targeted at enabling the participant to attain or maintain his or her maximum potential. These supports may serve to reinforce skills or lessons taught in school, therapy or other settings

Rate of Payment

$36/hour with Master’s Degree $30/hour with Bachelor’s Degree

Contract Position

YES Waiver Family Based Alternatives

Description of Service

To provide therapeutic support to a participant and to model appropriate behaviors for the participant’s family, the participant temporarily resides in a home other than the home of his or her legally authorized representative (LAR). The objective is to enable the participant to successfully return home to live in the community with his or her family.

Services may include:

*Age and individually appropriate guidance regarding and/or assistance with the activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living (ambulating, bathing, dressing, eating, getting in and out of bed, grooming, personal hygiene, money management, toileting, communicating, performing household chores and managing medications)

*Securing and providing transportation.

*Reinforcement of counseling, therapy and related activities.

*Assistance with medications and performance of tasks delegated by a registered nurse or physician.

*Supervision of the participant for safety and security.

*Facilitating inclusion in community activities, social interaction, use of natural supports, participation in leisure activities and development of social valued behaviors.

*Assistance in accessing community and school resources.

Service Limitation:

Has to be pre-authorized and can be authorized for up to 90 consecutive or cumulative days per service authorization year. There cannot be more than 4 non-related individuals residing in the home.
