Job Description | Under the direction of the Youth and Family Services Manager, this position gets to work with youth and their families to deliver therapeutic mental health services in accordance with best-practice standards, evidence-based interventions and individualized recovery planning. Therapies might include, but are not limited to, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Counseling services will be provided in BTCS’ facilities/offices, community, and/or person’s home; services may be provided in-person or via Tele-Video, as appropriate. This position will have the opportunity to participate in and/or lead community education, engagement and outreach events and programming (i.e. groups, workshops, classes, courses). Services provided by the person in this position promote recovery and wellness, community integration, stable living within the community and improved quality of life. The person in this position will effectively work independently and on a team, prioritize needs during crisis situations, engage in regular meetings and training opportunities, and perform other duties as assigned with a positive attitude. The Counselor will also complete diagnostic intake assessments for State Supported Services and YES Waiver Services. This includes assessing eligibility, developing recovery plans, coordinating services and completing crisis assessments when necessary. Other responsibilities include consultation with staff as needed one-on-one or in small groups. The Counselor may participate in strategic or program planning for delivery of mental health services by this program. This position is one discipline of a multi-disciplinary team and may be the primary service provider for a given client or family system or may serve in the role of consultant. Credentials | Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in psychology, counseling or related field and current licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (i.e., LPC/LCSW/LMFT). The candidate will be credentialed through Bluebonnet Trails Community Services. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved drivers status throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred AND required education, experience, job knowledge, skills and abilities helpful in the performance of this position, as indicated below: Bilingual, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, 2 years providing counseling services for people with severe and persistent mental illness. |
