(1770) Addiction Psychiatrist

Job Description

This Position, a physician properly credentialed as an Addiction Psychiatrist, is responsible for the delivery of professional and competent psychiatric care (in person and/or by telemedicine) to a full caseload (prorated based on %FTE), to individuals in need of substance use related care and/or general psychiatric care. Additional duties may include provision of services to crisis programs.

Responsibilities are delineated in the Position Description, and in summary will include:

  • The demonstration of a working knowledge of substance use disorders (SUD) assessment and treatment processes.
  • The ability to work effectively with other health care professionals.
  • Supporting/enhancing program and center leadership, specifically the Chief Medical Officer and Director of SUD Services
  • Providing input on, and development of, substance use disorder operating procedures and protocols.
  • Provision of medication assisted treatment for opiate and other SUD, including office based opioid treatment (buprenorphine/naloxone).
  • Provision of residential and ambulatory withdrawal management services
  • Oversight of nursing staff, delegation/supervision of nurse practitioners, and/or physician assistants providing services in SUD specialty and/or other programs throughout BTCS
  • Serving as a SUD subject matter expert and consultant with other Bluebonnet Trails health care professionals
  • Psychiatric care to patients (adults, and/or child and adolescent based upon qualifications) in outpatient, residential, and/or crisis programs, including psychiatric evaluation, medication management, treatment planning, emergency evaluations, and other specified psychiatric services or related activities.
  • Duties may also include (as per the specifics of the position) but are not limited to, staff consultation, quality review activities, treatment team participation, and training of students.

The Position is responsible for maintaining all licensing and certifications necessary for the provision of assigned services, and for compliance with BTCS (and any applicable contracted site) policies, training, procedures, and billing code requirements.

The Position provides services primarily to the Williamson County Georgetown location but will be provided to all BTCS or contracted sites, as assigned.  Must be able to document services as assigned by the site including the use of an electronic medical record; documentation will be completed within a timely manner as defined by the assigned location.  Provision of services by telemedicine is required; some in person services may be required.

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Psychiatrist: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. By hire date: Certification of completion of residency in psychiatry; Current, active license to practice medicine in Texas as issued by the Texas Medical Board; Current, active Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (or in process). Unrestricted eligibility to participate in provider network for Medicare/Medicaid/other third-party payers.

Must have a Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driving status throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Board Certification in the Subspecialty of Addiction Psychiatry
• Board Certification in Psychiatry and/or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
• 3 or more years’ experience providing substance use disorder treatment in residential setting
