The Primary Clinician acts as the lead therapist and clinical case manager for the ClearPath Early Onset Psychosis Program. ClearPath is a Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) program designed to meet the needs of people with an early onset of psychosis. Research shows that if a person gets the right help within the first years of experiencing symptoms, such as through ClearPath, there is a good chance they can recover and lead successful lives. The ClearPath program makes a significant and lasting positive impact in the community and helps transitional youth regain the hope and skills needed to build bright futures. Like other chronic health conditions, the sooner symptoms are identified, and a treatment program is put into action, the more likely it is for a person’s overall condition and health status to improve. ClearPath case load size is 20-30 of transitional youth individuals (ages 15–30) who are interested in actively participating in treatment and have been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder within the past two years within our service area. Primary Clinicians provide therapeutic mental health services to individuals on their caseload in accordance with best-practice standards, evidence-based interventions, and individualized recovery planning.
The CSC model is team-based and provides comprehensive treatment and support services to keep people on the path to recovery. Primary Clinicians are effective in trauma informed and person-centered therapeutic interventions and motivational interviewing. Therapy and case management services are inclusive of individuals families. Primary Clinicians conduct strength-based needs assessments and provide psycho-education regarding first episode psychosis (FEP) focusing on stress management, self-regulation strategies, recovery, skill building, and connecting our participants and families with the services and supports in their communities.
Therapies might include, but are not limited to, Trauma-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
In addition, the Primary Clinician will facilitate group and individual therapy. Compassion and communication are skills necessary in order to serve families with the support and resources needed. This position is one part of a multidisciplinary team. Services are provided in home, office and clinic settings within the county based on a flexible schedule. There are no on-call or weekend expectations for this position.
