Job Description | The Employment-Housing Specialist provides services to individuals with a diagnosed mental illness who are experiencing homelessness, or are at risk of becoming homeless, and who may be unemployed, underemployed, or at risk of becoming unemployed. The Employment-Housing Specialist provides skills training and support that teaches a person to obtain and maintaining affordable housing and employment. The Employment-Housing Specialist works with individuals to develop a person-centered housing and recovery plan, which promotes housing stability, independent living, promotes recovery from mental illness, and promotes wellness. A flexible work schedule and training is provided. Credentials | Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or a related human services field or has a degree in any major but has hours equivalent to a degree in human services field. Must have Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driving status throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications: Good communication and problem-solving skills, and an aptitude to work with people that have chronic mental illness. |
