Job Description | Under the programmatic and administrative leadership of the Chief of Health Programs and the clinical leadership of the Chief Medical Officer, the Director of Residential Nursing (DRN) will provide the clinical supervision, education, direction, and oversight to Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) within all BTCS residential programs. The BTCS residential programs include Adult Crisis Respite, Youth Therapeutic Respite, State Hospital Step-down, Residential Withdrawal Management (Detox) and Diversion Center. This position will coordinate and monitor the delivery of clinical and nursing behavioral health, crisis, and developmental disabilities services in these residential settings. The DRN will ensure the care and treatment of individuals in accordance with accepted professional, legal and ethical nursing standards are being met by the nursing team. The DRN, in cooperation with the Program Director will assure admissions, referrals, treatment and discharges are completed in alignment with Bluebonnet Trails Community Services (BTCS) procedures; are person centered; are conducted in the best interest of the person and community; and are properly coordinated with the treating physicians and other prescribing professionals. The DRN will assist in the oversight of infection control processes, internal and external reviews (audits) of residential nursing and medical programs as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer for the purposes of quality measurement and improvement. The person in this position will be an active participant in clinical and administrative teams supporting quality improvement by enhancing practice and establishing procedures supporting successful implementation of innovative practices and practical approaches to supporting successful accreditation of the system of care. The DRN is responsible for adhering to all agency policies and procedures. The DRN will work with other healthcare agencies, including local and state hospitals as well as other state and local agencies referring and receiving individuals, to ensure nursing services are provided timely and in the most clinically appropriate setting. The DRN will work within a multi-disciplinary team, possess the leadership ability to educate, train, lead and support all nursing team staff. The DRN will exhibit excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. The DRN will coordinate, consult with, and align nursing operations with the Director of Nursing and outpatient services. Routine interactions and collaboration will occur to ensure a consistent nursing model for all of the agency, including joint meetings with the Chief Medical Officer. The DRN will possess positive leadership, communication, problem solving and team building skills. Credentials | Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas; ability to work collaboratively and be part of a multidisciplinary professional team; computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS Office/TEAMS/Outlook 365 applications; excellent written and oral communication skills, experience in residential or inpatient behavioral healthcare setting; must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications: Psychiatric/Mental Health ANCC or CARN nursing certification or the ability to obtain such within one year of assuming this role; Bilingual in Spanish or ASL; five cumulative years of residential or inpatient nursing experience in Behavioral health, Developmental Disabilities, Primary Care, Medical Surgical, Substance Use, Withdrawal Management and/or Crisis Services. |
