(2961) Licensed Vocational Nurse, Youth Therapeutic Respite Program

Job Description

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will work within the Therapeutic Respite Program for Youth which provides therapeutic respite services in a 10-bed unit to children and youth between the ages of 5 and 17 years old. This LVN will be supervised and directed by the Director of Residential Nursing, the Nurse Manager and Program Director. The LVN will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support children who are at risk of crisis but do not meet the criteria for hospitalization. Nursing will be provided around the clock and with the assistance of support staff who work alongside the team.

This Nursing position performs responsible nursing work in the assigned location.  This position is responsible for the care and treatment of individuals in accordance with accepted professional, legal and ethical nursing standards.

Primary responsibilities include medication monitoring and administration, individual assessments, laboratory collections and interpretation of lab results, individual and family education regarding medications, health and nutrition, mental illness, and substance use all under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

This position may also be responsible for giving injections, administering urine drug screens, and pregnancy tests as ordered.

The LVN is responsible for adhering to all agency policies and procedures. This Nurse must possess an ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and have excellent communication skills.

Salary: $19.69 – $22.44/hr

*Range of salary subject to applicable differentials listed below*

Shift differentials as follows:

Evening shift differential of 2.00 per hour from 5 pm-7 pm
Night shift differential of 4.00 per hour after 7 pm
Weekend shift differential of 4.00 per hour
Overnight weekend shift differential of 6.00 per hour
Daytime Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and
Friday 8 am – 5 pm
Evening Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and
Friday 5 pm – 11 pm
Overnight Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
11 pm – 8 am the next day
Weekend Hours: Saturday and Sunday 8am-11pm
Weekend Night Hours: Friday 11pm through Saturday at 8am; Saturday 11pm through Sunday 8am; Sunday 11pm though Monday at 8am

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications:
1.Graduated from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of Texas with at least 1-year recent nursing experience.
2. Ability to work collaboratively and be part of a multidisciplinary professional team.
3. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS office applications.
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills
5. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved driving status throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working with children in psychiatric settings, with individuals with developmental disabilities,
substance use disorders and or primary care
2. Bilingual in Spanish
