Job Description

This Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) performs nursing duties as assigned and supervised in a 4 bed Withdrawal Management Unit under the leadership of the Program Director and the Crisis Services Program Director. The person chosen for this position must possess strong knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of working with individuals with psychiatric and mental health, medical diagnoses, substance use disorders and detoxification of substances.

Responsibilities include nursing focused assessments, medication administration and monitoring, education regarding diagnosis, providing training to support staff within the center. The RN or LVN will assess and follow nursing care plans and will communicate findings with the RN, physician, nurse practitioner, behavioral health staff and treatment team.

This RN or LVN must have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse cultures and socio-economic populations. Tasks and documentation of services are provided in accordance with accepted legal and ethical nursing standards.

This RN or LVN will also be cross trained at the Crisis Respite Unit and the Diversion Center.

LVN Salary: $23.89 – $33.08/hr

  • $1.00/hr primary care experience

RN Salary: $44.39 – $50.39/hr

Applicable Differentials:

    • Evening shift differential of 2.00 per hour from 5 pm-7 pm
    • Night shift differential of 4.00 per hour after 7 pm
    • Weekend shift differential of 4.00 per hour
    • Weekend overnight of 6.00 per hour
  • Daytime Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and
  • Friday 8 am – 5 pm
  • Evening Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and
  • Friday 5 pm – 11 pm
  • Overnight Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
  • 11 pm – 8 am the next day
  • Weekend Hours: Saturday and Sunday 8am-11pm
  • Weekend Night Hours: Friday 11pm through Saturday at 8am; Saturday 11pm through Sunday 8am; Sunday 11pm though Monday at 8am

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications:
1. Graduated from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of
Texas with at least 1-year recent nursing experience working with individuals with substance use
disorders, experience in an inpatient and hospital medical setting and or detoxification unit.
2. Ability to work collaboratively and be part of a multidisciplinary professional team.
3. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS office applications.
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills
5. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment
6. Experience working with OSAR and SUD programs


Preferred Qualifications:
1. 3+ years’ experience working with individuals in an inpatient psychiatric setting, inpatient medical
detoxification unit, or emergency room experience.
2. Bilingual in Spanish
