Job Description | Under the direct supervision of the Provider Program Coordinator, the Direct Service Professional (DSP) provides support services and skills training to educate individuals with development disabilities to reach their maximum level of independence to optimize their personal, social, and functional living skills to live successfully in the community. The DSP is required to work with individuals who may display physical, emotional, and or behavioral challenges that are a challenge to environments and people with whom they interact. The DSP must have the ability to teach and model adaptive behaviors, fully implement training programs, assist individuals with activities of daily living, communicate effectively with individuals served and accurately document observations and services provided. Although some services may be site based, the focus of training will occur in the community so integration may occur that offers opportunities to help persons understand the many supports and services that are available to them in the community. All services are provided in compliance with Health and Human Services Commission state guidelines and the performance contract handbook. The DSP must have the ability to stay current in all center required training, work variable hours when needed to provide adequate coverage, remain flexible to work in variable work settings and counties. Direct support services will be provided in different environments such as Enrichment Centers, community settings, nursing facilities as needed. Virtual services may also be provided by the DSP.
