Job Description

Under the supervision of a registered nurse and the direction of the physicians, the certified medical assistant will complete vital signs, record information in electronic medical record, obtain discharge records as well as other significant authorizations to disclosure, stage medication consents and obtain medication authorizations to ensure no lapse in prescriptions. This CMA will gather and provide pertinent medical information to the RN or Provider once received. Other responsibilities include collecting specimens for urine drug screens, genetic testing swabs, pregnancy testing, ordering medications once approved from the local pharmacies and may also perform injections and venipuncture with nursing supervision. This position will service all Crisis programs including Extended Observation Unit, Crisis Residential Unit, Long Term Transitional Center, Medication Assisted Treatment, Primary Care.

Possesses knowledge and skills that promote person-centered care, including ability to contribute to efficient clinic flow to reduce wait time for individuals in services.  This position requires an aptitude for working with people who have severe mental health challenges, including awareness of psychotherapeutic medications. This position also requires the ability to collaborate and work within teams, providing feedback to physicians, nurses, supervisors, and other members of the recovery team.  This position will be cross trained to assist with clerical, financial and other office duties as needed as well as provide medication pick ups from local pharmacies

Salary: $18.39 – $21.14/hr

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Requires a high school and medical assistant diploma along with CMA certification plus 6 months experience. The ability to work within a fast-paced treatment setting.

Must have skills and experience using integrated computer database programs to access files and document treatment services and the ability to organize and prioritize work assignments.

Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual in Spanish
2 years of experience working within a behavioral health medical outpatient office, inpatient unit or residential setting.
