(1584) Youth and Family Behavioral Health Counselor

Job Description

In collaboration with direct supervisor and Youth & Family Service Manager, this position provides therapeutic mental health services primarily to children, youth, and families in accordance with best-practice standards, evidence-based interventions and individualized recovery planning. Therapies might include, but are not limited to, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This position may also receive referrals for adults when clinically appropriate. Counseling services will be provided in BTCS’ facilities/offices, community, and/or person’s home; services may be provided in-person or via Tele-Video, as appropriate. This position will have the opportunity to participate in and/or lead community education, engagement and outreach events and programming (i.e. groups, workshops, classes, courses).

The Counselor supports diagnostic intake assessments. This includes assessing eligibility, developing recovery plans, coordinating services, and completing crisis assessments when necessary.

Other responsibilities include consultation with staff as needed one-on-one or in small groups. The Counselor may participate in strategic or program planning for delivery of mental health services by this program. This position is one discipline of a multi-disciplinary team and may be the primary service provider for a given individual or family system or may serve in the role of consultant.

Salary: $31.80 – $38.55/hr

Applicable Differentials:

$0.75/hr Bilingual

Up to $2.00/hr prior community center experience

Up to $4.00/hour tenure with BTCS

$200/month Service Delivery incentive

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or current licensure by the State of Texas as a licensed clinical psychologist. The candidate will be credentialed through Bluebonnet Trails Community Services. Must have valid Texas Driver's license and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in direct care of persons with a serious mental illness including experience in acute care setting.
Bilingual
2 years providing counseling services for people with severe and persistent mental illness.
