Job Description | Under the supervision of the MCOT Program Manager or designee, the Youth Outreach Specialist is a member of the Central Hub Crisis Team, providing services in-person and via televideo in Bastrop, Fayette, and Lee Counties to youth ages 3 to 17. The specialist will dispatch to various community locations (i.e. schools, emergency rooms, homes and BTCS clinics) to provide crisis intervention, screening, referral, relapse prevention and follow-up services. For youth enrolled in Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT) Plus, a specialty population for youth who have past or current involvement with the Department of Family Protective Services (DFPS) or who are at risk of DFPS involvement, the clinician will also serve as the transitional case manager. Upon stabilization of the crisis, services will include a minimum of 4 weeks and up to 90 days of case management, individual and group skills training, Person-Centered Recovery Planning, supported housing/employment, and other services as needed. Youth will transition to other services in the community or within the LMHA. Additionally, the Youth Outreach Specialist will provide crisis triage and intervention services in the community or at BTCS clinics/residential programs. This position collaboratively partners with the DFPS, schools, law enforcement, the medical community, families, and social service agencies to assist persons in crisis. The clinician must possess strong knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of working with individuals experiencing a mental health, substance use, and/or developmental crisis, and must have the ability to communicate effectively with persons and families from diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. The clinician must have skills and experience using integrated computer database programs to access files and document services, as well as the ability to organize and prioritize work assignments. This position requires a flexible work schedule and the ability to work independently, yet collaboratively. This position is cross trained to provide support other crisis programs such as the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) and Youth Therapeutic Respite Program (YTRP) and will work collaboratively with other Youth & Family programs. This position is an essential position within a 24/7 crisis program. As such, it requires rotating on-call responsibilities with on call stipend is $30/day plus time worked. Credentials | Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a human services field; comprehensive knowledge of mental health diagnoses. Ability to work as a member of a team within a fast-paced, recovery-focused environment is essential to this position. Minimum of two years’ experience working with youth. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment. *If degree is not in a human services field, a minimum of 24 college credits in a human services field are required. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree; pursuing clinical licensure in counseling, social work or a related field. Bilingual in ASL or Spanish preferred; experience in providing concurrent documentation preferred. |
