Job Description

This position provides therapeutic mental health services primarily to adults and families in accordance with best-practice standards, evidence-based interventions, and individualized recovery planning. Therapies might include, but are not limited to, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

This position will receive referrals for adults and youth as clinically appropriate. Counseling services will be provided in BTCS’ facilities/offices, community, and in person’s homes; these services may be provided in vivo or via Tele-Video, as appropriate and approved by the Services Manager. This position will have the opportunity to participate in and/or lead community education, engagement, support, and outreach events and programming (i.e. groups, workshops, classes, courses).This position will also have the opportunity to mentor individuals pursuing their internship hours from local universities.

Other responsibilities include consultation with staff as needed one-on-one or in small groups. The Counselor may participate in strategic or program planning for delivery of mental health services by this program. This position is one discipline of a multi-disciplinary team and may be the primary service provider for a given client or family system or may serve in the role of consultant.

Location: Williamson and Burnet Counties

Salary: $31.80 – $39.55/hr

Applicable Differentials:

$0.75/hr – Bilingual/ASL

$1.00/hr – PHd

Up to $2.00/hr – previous experience at a community center in a similar role

Up to $4.00/hr – tenure with BTCS

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Full Clinical licensure is required (LCSW, LPC or LMFT). Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Clinical experience providing counseling to children, adolescents, adults and families. Must have valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved driving status throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and/or Cognitive Processing Therapy preferred. Experience working with individuals diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness.
