(3024) Mental Health First Aid Outreach Coordinator

Job Description

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Outreach Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Director of Training to ensure the coordination and delivery of MHFA trainings requested by community partners. MHFA is an evidence-based training course for the general public that is designed to teach key skills that can help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Bluebonnet Trails Community Services receives both state and federal funding to provide this training to community partners across our 8-county service area.

The primary job responsibilities of the MHFA Outreach Coordinator include developing and managing a coordinated regional plan for delivering Youth and Adult MHFA training for school districts, charter and private schools, institutes of higher learning, first responders, veterans, and judges and attorneys in the Bluebonnet Trails Community Services’ service area. This position establishes cooperative and collaborative partnerships throughout the community through marketing, community involvement, and regular contact to facilitate scheduling and delivering of MHFA trainings.

The MHFA Outreach Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring all timelines, reports, budget invoices and requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner and are submitted to Texas Health and Human Services Commission as outlined in the Statement of Work. This position is also responsible for maintaining the necessary curriculum for MHFA to meet the needs of the communities and is responsible for assisting in collecting and analyzing all data related to MHFA.

Location: All Bluebonnet Trails locations; remote work with work in clinics as required.

Salary: $24.87 – $30.62/hr

Applicable Differentials:

.75/hour – Bilingual

1.00/hour – advanced licensure

Up to $2.00/hour – previous experience at a community center in a similar role

1.00/hour – specialty

1.00/hour –2 year tenure with BTCS

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or other human services field; training and public speaking experience; familiarity with substance use, children’s mental health and developmental issues, as well as adult mental health issues; minimum of three years’ experience performing mental health assessments, diagnosis, and treatment; strong commitment to providing quality, person centered, trauma-informed and recovery oriented behavioral healthcare. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved drivers’ status throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA), LPC, LCSW, Licensed Psychologist, or LMFT; bilingual; certified facilitator of MHFA.
