Job Description | The Employment-Housing Specialist works with individuals that have a diagnosed mental illness who are experiencing homelessness, or are at risk of becoming homeless, and who may be unemployed, underemployed, or at risk of becoming unemployed. The Employment-Housing Specialist teaches a variety of skills to individuals that help them obtain and maintain affordable housing and employment. The Employment-Housing Specialist helps individuals develop and follow person-centered housing and recovery plans that promote housing stability and independent living, employment, wellness and recovery from mental illness. The Employment-Housing Specialist is supported by professional staff including case managers, peer specialists, nurses, psychiatrists and advanced nurse practitioners. Supported Employment and Supportive Housing training is provided for the chosen applicant. The work schedule is flexible, to accommodate the people being served, and services are provided face-to-face in the community or in-clinic, or by tele-video, or by telephone according to individuals’ preferences and needs. The Employment-Housing Specialist works from home, with use of clinic space for services as needed and available.
