Job Description | Crisis Team. This position will collaborate with the Williamson County Emergency Operations Center and will assist with providing appropriate supports to a variety of behavioral health crisis situations, ranging from low acuity to high acuity. The mental health dispatcher assists in providing phone-based crisis intervention and de-escalation to persons in crisis. This position will be able to partner with law enforcement, the medical community, schools, families, and social services agencies in a collaborative effort to assist persons in crisis. The individual utilizes strong knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and practices of working with individuals experiencing a behavioral health, substance use, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, or co-occurring needs crisis, and can communicate effectively with diverse cultures and socio-economic populations. Position will utilize knowledge of public mental health and community resources to collaboratively safety plan with persons in crisis to access appropriate services. Utilizes a unique set of skills and experiences using integrated computer database programs (multitask to review information in multiple systems while engaging and assessing a person in crisis over the phone). This position will also receive training to support other crisis programs as needed. This position requires a flexible work schedule and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
