support you and your client’s needs. Our mission is to help create a solid treatment system that can help set our clients, both adults and

adolescents (adolescent clients 13 – 17 years of age), up for a successful recovery journey. Clients seeking services may also require

support related co co-occurring needs related to mental wellness and substance use.

 

Under the supervision of the Director of Outpatient Services, OSAR Region 7 Supervisor, and the SUD leadership team, the OSAR/SUD

Counselor will spend 75% of their time providing brief substance use screenings for English and Spanish speakers, including brief

biopsychosocial assessment, to adults and adolescents who present with possible substance use issues. The OSAR/SUD Counselor will

conduct a brief screening to determine a provisional diagnosis utilizing DSM 5 criteria and provide referrals to appropriate recovery

support services. At the discretion of the OSAR Supervisor, Director of Care Coordination, and under the conditions of the telecommuting

agreement, this position may be allowed to complete work from home for the following duties: administrative work, email, phone calls,

virtual meeting attendance, company approved trainings, and direct care services. If determined, this position can be primarily based in

the community or field, if needed. OSAR/SUD counselors may also be subject to providing services in jail, hospital, and psychiatric hospital settings. The OSAR/SUD Counselor will continue continuity of care by providing brief interventions, motivational interviewing, and case management services. This position may include traveling to area agencies to conduct OSAR screenings and/or provide outreach and education. This position works within, and promotes, an integrated holistic model for care.

In this position, there will be collaboration with community partners such as, but not limited to: CPS, Pre-Trial Services, Probation/Parole officers, and local mental health authorities to promote coordination of care for appropriate referrals. The OSAR/SUD Counselor will advocate effectively and professionally within the service delivery system, and in collaboration with individuals served when appropriate, to facilitate needed services for individuals and to protect rights of those served.

The OSAR/SUD counselor will spend 25% of their time supporting our SUD treatment program for English and Spanish speakers by providing orientation to the substance abuse program, biopsychosocial assessments, mental status exam, communicable disease assessment, financial eligibility, admission paperwork, consent forms, referrals to appropriate level of care, inputting DSM 5 diagnostic impression, treatment/discharge planning, and facilitate individual and or group counseling. Group counseling will consist of interpersonal process groups as well as psychoeducation groups with evidenced based practices. Counselors are also encouraged to provide case management for the client to ensure the development of external support for long-term recovery. The OSAR/SUD counselor will meet as scheduled with other members of the treatment team to coordinate client services. This OSAR/SUD counselor must be able to comply with all admissions, programming, curriculum, and scheduling guidelines and procedures as instructed along with all crisis intervention and safety protocols of the program. This is a flexible position, and the person hired may need to perform services in other clinics, when needed. Exemplary communication skills are necessary to communicate with individuals served, accurately document service provision, and work with community/agency partners. This position is one discipline of a multidisciplinary team and will be working closely with individuals they serve and as a consultant to other staff. This position may involve working evening hours at least four days a week, TBD. This position has the flexibility to work four, ten hours days a week.

Location: Remote with onsite work as needed

Salary: $22.03 – $31.91/hr

Applicable Differentials:

$1.00 – Advanced Licensure (LCDC/LPC/LCSW/LMFT)

$1.00 – Master’s Degree

$1.00 – PhD/Doctoral Degree

Up to $3.00/hour – Outpatient/Residential SUD Treatment Experience

Up to $4.00/hour – Tenure with BTCS

*$200 monthly service delivery incentive

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Must be bilingual in Spanish.
Must meet the criteria and hold a valid license as an LCDC.
An LCDC-I will be considered with documented experience in:
1. Assessing, diagnosing, and evidenced based treatment of substance use disorders
2. Demonstrated knowledge of the effects of substance use disorders and barriers to treatment
3. Historical placements with a certified training institute
If applicable, evidence of testing results and documented supervised work experience form to produce upon request
Must have valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved driving status throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications: LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LPC-A, LMFT, or LMFT-A – with experience working with substance use disorders in a treatment capacity.
Experience with adolescent substance abuse treatment modality.
