| Job Description | 7 PM – 7 AM (Overnight) This position performs professional nursing duties as the Registered Nurse for a 14-bed, 23 hour/48 hour behavioral health care crisis unit. This registered nurse (RN) must possess strong knowledge of the principles, methods and practices of working with individuals with psychiatric, substance use disorders and mental health concerns. Responsibilities include nursing triage and assessment upon admission, medication administration and monitoring, education regarding diagnosis, providing RN delegation and training to support staff within the center. The RN will assess and complete nursing care plans and will communicate findings with the treatment team. The Diversion Center RN will provide support and care to those residing in the facilities while supervising support staff through education, direction and delegation for other nursing needs and requirements. The Diversion Center RN must be able to perform other nursing duties such as venipuncture, injections, vital signs, urine drug screening, pregnancy testing ordered by the physician or NP. Other responsibilities include medication monitoring and administration, individual assessments, laboratory collections and interpretation of lab results, individual and family education regarding medications, health and nutrition, mental illness, medical diagnosis, substance use, and developmental disabilities. This RN must have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse cultures and socio-economic populations, tasks and documentation services legal and ethical nursing standards. This RN will be directed/supervised by the RN Manager for clinical matters such as, but not limited to medications, pharmacy, injections, genetic testing, phlebotomy, laboratory matters and clinical assessments. The RN will be directed/supervised by the Program Manager for administrative matters such as, but not limited to requesting time off, scheduling and office flow. Personnel concerns will be addressed collaboratively by both the RN Manager & the Program Manager. BTCS RNs cross train to support other programs as needed, including programs such as the Georgetown State Hospital Step Down Program, the Crisis Respite Unit, and the Youth Therapeutic Respite Program. | Credentials | Minimum Qualifications: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas with at least 2 years recent nursing experience in behavioral health and or substance use nursing. Experience can be in any inpatient, outpatient, or residential treatment type setting. Ability to work collaboratively and be part of a multidisciplinary professional team. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS office applications. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with individuals with behavioral health, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, ER or primary care. Bilingual in Spanish. |
