(3062) Intensive Family Therapist – Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST)

Job Description

Intensive Family Therapist – Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST)

The Intensive Family Therapy Program is dedicated to empowering youth to reduce risky behaviors and achieve life goals such as staying in school, maintaining employment, and strengthening family relationships. At the core of this program is a multi-disciplinary team of four highly trained Intensive Family Therapists delivering Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) — a proven, evidence-based approach that creates meaningful change for youth and their families.

As part of this small, collaborative team, you’ll work closely with your colleagues, learning from each other’s experiences and successes through regular group supervision and consultation. The Intensive Family Therapist position is ideal for candidates who:

  • Thrive in a team environment – Engage in ongoing supervision and peer collaboration to support treatment success.
  • Prefer working with a focused caseload – Build strong therapeutic relationships with up to 6 youth and their families, allowing for meaningful, individualized care.
  • Are flexible and responsive – Participate in a rotating on-call schedule that may include some evenings and weekends to ensure families receive timely support.
  • Are passionate about making a difference – Support youth facing externalizing challenges such as substance use, aggression, and involvement with the juvenile justice system.
  • Enjoy working in the community – Provide services in schools, homes, juvenile facilities, and other community locations throughout Caldwell, Gonzales, and Guadalupe counties — meeting families where they are.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Specialty Programs and the Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) Service Manager, the Intensive Family Therapist provides intensive, community-based therapeutic services to youth and families utilizing the evidence-based MST model. Services are delivered in home, school, clinic, and community settings with the goal of reducing high-risk behaviors, improving family functioning, and preventing placement in more restrictive levels of care. This position receives comprehensive paid training in the MST model and ongoing clinical supervision and consultation to support fidelity to the treatment approach. The Intensive Family Therapist works collaboratively with youth, caregivers, natural supports, and community partners to develop individualized, strengths-based interventions that promote long-term success and stability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct clinical treatment to youth and families using MST principles.
  • Delivering evidence-based interventions to reduce high-risk behaviors and promote positive outcomes.
  • Conducting crisis intervention as needed to stabilize youth and prevent placement in more restrictive environments.
  • Completing required assessments, documentation, and treatment plans in compliance with state and agency standards.
  • Collaborating with families to develop individualized, person-centered recovery plans.
  • Participating in weekly group supervision, consultation, and ongoing professional development.
  • Rotating participation in the on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 support for families as needed.

This position offers the opportunity to create lasting, positive change in the lives of youth and families while working within  a highly supportive, team-oriented environment grounded in evidence-based practice. If you are driven to make a meaningful impact and are ready to learn a nationally recognized treatment model, we encourage you to apply.
