(1189) Crisis Clinician Intern – Homeless Prevention

Job Description

The Williamson County Homeless Prevention (WCHP) supports chronically homeless individuals towards a goal of obtaining permanent housing, through partnership with Community First! Village and other permanent housing options in the community.

Our Mission is to continuously improve the health and independence of the persons we serve. WCHP provides access to services to stabilize a crisis while diverting individuals from jail, emergency rooms, and hospitalization for the chronically homeless population through connection to timely and appropriate services.

Critical Impact:

The WCHP provides engagement to homeless individuals referred primarily by local law enforcement, the jail, and private behavioral health hospitals.  The Crisis Clinician Intern is to support Pecan Gardens, a permanent supportive housing complex. This includes case management, crisis assessments, and intake services for Bluebonnet Trails Community Services clients residing at Pecan Gardens. Additionally, Crisis Clinician Intern will connect individuals in the community to permanent housing through Community First! Village (CFV) and other permanent housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to referrals from local law enforcement agencies, jails, and private hospitals.
  • Engage with referred individuals to determine their interest in and eligibility for housing programs.
  • Support eligible individuals in applying for housing at CFV.
  • Serve a caseload of up to 15 clients housed at CFV and up to 10 clients in alternate transitional housing.
  • Provide wrap-around care coordination and direct care services, including linkage to clothing, medical care, psychiatric care, and benefits coordination.

 

Location: Williamson County and Travis County

Hourly Salary Rate: $10.30

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Masters program intern
  • Bachelors Degree in Human Services
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual in Spanish or American Sign Language
