Job Description | Under the supervision of the Business Operations Manager, the Patient Account Representative (PAR) is responsible for following patient accounts through the entire billing process from entry of services, to billing of services, through follow up of outstanding balances. The PAR is a key member of improving and maintaining Bluebonnet Trails Community Services’ (BTCS) revenue cycle management. The Patient Account Representative will assist individuals entering into services with insurance by obtaining required prior authorizations and referrals for physician, counseling services, and other necessary prior authorizations required for Mental Health/Behavioral Health services. Throughout the length of an individual’s care, the PAR will maintain continued authorizations as needed for our Behavioral Health, Substance Use and other specialty programs. The PAR will work on all SmartCare authorization related reports daily to ensure services move quickly through our billing process. Within the role, the PAR will ensure individual’s accounts are worked efficiently and effectively, goals are met, work is achieved, and issues and results are communicated. Through review and management of client’s aged receivable accounts, the PAR will monitor overdue accounts, notify individuals of delinquent accounts, and assist individuals in making payments through one-time payments or payment plans. Patient Account Representative will ensure individuals maintain and stay up to date with their chosen payment plans. The PAR will perform various administrative functions for individuals’ accounts, such as recording address changes and updating insurance as they are informed. This position will maintain the client statement contract with Inovalon, this includes submitting the client statement report monthly, managing the change of address report that is returned each month, and routinely reviewing statements for accuracy. The position will create and support efficient revenue cycle processes that ensure the continuance of quality patient care, fiscal stability, and the enhancement of the centers’ image while achieving organizational goals consistently with the organization’s stated mission. Credentials | Minimum Qualifications: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. At a minimum, 2 years of experience in collections. Experience in telephone techniques, negotiation skills, and basic math skills. Strong communication and computer skills. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in healthcare administration, health finance, or related field. Bilingual would be preferred in this role. Knowledge of health insurance practices for prior authorizations in all or some of Mental Health, Substance Use, and other specialty programs. Experience with payment collections, knowledge of E&M codes, and experience1681 working with insurance companies. |
