(1862) Veteran Peer Coordinator

Job Description

This position works under the direct supervision of the Director of Peer and Veteran Support Services and will report to the Service area. This position will coordinate with peer services to help veterans in counties associated with Bluebonnet Trails Services service area.

The Military Veteran Peer Coordinator duties include providing peer services, community outreach, and providing resources for the service member, veterans, and their families. Assist with budget development, monthly and quarterly review of all information reported to the state. Supervise the provision of services by volunteers and monitor quality of services.

Exemplary communication skills are necessary to communicate with individuals served, accurately document service provision, and work with community/agency partners. This position is one discipline of a multidisciplinary team and will be working closely with individuals they serve. In addition to direct service, the person in this role may be asked to engage in program development or develop special projects.

Location: All BTCS Locations

Salary: $18.20 – $22.95/hr

Applicable Differentials:

  • Up to $2.00/hour, previous experience in a similar role with a community center
  • $1.00/hour, Career Ladder Specialty
  • .75/hour, Bilingual
  • $1.00/hour, Tenure with BTCS

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Lived Experience with recovery from Mental Health challenges; Certified Mental Health Peer Specialist certification must be obtained within six months of employment; High School Diploma or equivalent, valid Texas Driver’s License and must maintain approved driving status throughout employment; must be a military veteran.

Preferred Qualifications: Currently Certified by the state of Texas as a Certified Mental Health Peer Specialist. Hold current certification in WRAP. Hold the following endorsements – Re-entry endorsement, Co-Occurring endorsement, Whole Health Action Management (WHAM) practitioner, Seeking Safety practitioner, IPS training, 3+ years’ experience working as a Mental Health Peer Specialist.
