Job Description | We are seeking a passionate and experienced Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) to join our team and support individuals in our outpatient clinics, transitional housing, and community-based programs. Our programs are designed to empower individuals with mental health challenges to take control of their wellness and lead meaningful, self-directed lives. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will use your lived experience with mental health recovery to provide peer support and promote hope, healing, and empowerment. Your primary role will be to help individuals identify and achieve their personal needs, wants, and goals through a variety of recovery-oriented services, including Peer Support, Person-Centered Planning, Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), Whole Health Action Management (WHAM), Seeking Safety, Recovery Dialogue. You will facilitate and document individual and group peer-led services across outpatient clinics, transitional housing sites, and within the broader community. The Certified Peer Specialist will work closely with an interdisciplinary treatment team of Case Managers, Counselors, Nursing staff, and Mobile Crisis Outreach teams, and leadership to ensure continuity of care for the individual receiving services. The Certified Peer Specialist may be asked to work a variable schedule with some evenings and weekends, as needed. This is a dynamic and collaborative role that requires flexibility, compassion, and a deep commitment to the values of recovery and peer support. Credentials | Minimum Qualifications: Personal lived experience with mental health recovery, and a willingness to use your story to support others; A High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment. Must achieve peer certification within six months of hire. An understanding of recovery principles and trauma-informed care; Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills; Commitment to ethics, confidentiality, and professional boundaries. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred AND required education, experience, job knowledge, sills, and abilities helpful; in the performance of this position, as indicated below: Current Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Seminar II certificate, Re-entry endorsement, Co-Occurring endorsement, Mental Health Peer Support certifications, Peer Recovery Support Specialist Certification (or equivalent), Whole Health Action Management (WHAM) practitioner, Seeking Safety practitioner, 3+ years’ experience working as a peer specialist |
