Job Description | Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager, and the Regional Center Director, this LVN provides support for psychiatric and primary care services in an integrated outpatient clinic. The LVN should possess a positive attitude, a caring spirit and be able to work within an integrated multidisciplinary team. This position supports the prescribing Physicians and NP’s, is responsible for obtaining vital signs, weight, height, BMI, recording information in the electronic medical record, and staging medication consents, rooming patients and assisting with medical procedures. The LVN will be responsible for refilling medications, assisting with phone calls, office, and clinic flow, and obtaining medication authorizations to ensure no lapse in prescriptions. This position will also provide education on nutrition, medications, diagnosis, and other health related concerns, giving injections, performing venipuncture, administering urine drug screens, pregnancy tests, and other point of care testing in the clinic. This position will assist in the coordination of the delivery of clinical and nursing care for primary care and behavioral health services and will perform responsible nursing work in the assigned locations. This position is responsible for the care and treatment of individuals in accordance with accepted professional, legal and ethical nursing standards. This LVN is responsible for adhering to all agency policies and procedures and reporting to work Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. This position may also support other centers due to staffing pattern changes supporting vacations and sick leave. Credentials | Minimum Qualifications: 1.Graduated from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of Texas 2. Ability to work collaboratively and be part of a multidisciplinary integrated behavioral health and primary care professional team. 3. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS office applications. 4. Excellent written and oral communication skills 5. Must have and hold a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driving record throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience working in psychiatric settings, with individuals with developmental disabilities, substance use disorders and or primary care needs 2. Bilingual in Spanish |
