Job Description | The Diversion Center Registered Nurse (RN) performs professional nursing duties as the RN assigned in a 10 bed, 23 hr/48 hr behavioral health care unit and demonstrates strong knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of working with individuals with psychiatric and mental health and or medical concerns. Responsibilities include nursing triage and assessment upon admission, medication administration and monitoring, education regarding diagnosis, providing RN delegation and training to support staff within the center. The RN will assess and complete nursing care plans and will communicate findings with the treatment team. The Diversion Center RN communicates effectively with diverse cultures and socio-economic populations. Tasks and documentation of services are provided in accordance with accepted legal and ethical nursing standards. The RN will work a 12-hour day shift with rotating weekends with the ability to create their own block schedule. The RN will be directed/supervised by the Director of Nursing for clinical matters such as, but not limited to, medications, pharmacy, injections, genetic testing, phlebotomy/laboratory matters and clinical assessments. The RN will be directed/supervised by the Program Manager for administrative matters such as, but not limited to, requesting time off, scheduling and office flow. Credentials | Minimum Qualifications: 1.Graduated from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas with at least 2 years recent nursing experience in behavioral health and or substance use nursing. Experience can be in any inpatient, outpatient, or residential treatment type setting. 2. Ability to work collaboratively and be part of a multidisciplinary professional team. 3. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS office applications. 4. Excellent written and oral communication skills 5. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications: 1. ANCC Psychiatric/Mental Health Certification or CARN certification 2. Experience working with individuals with behavioral health, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, ER or primary care 3. Bilingual in Spanish |
