(1993) Communications Specialist

Job Description

The Communications Specialist works under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Communications and is responsible for supporting ongoing and new communications needs. The ideal candidate is innovative, organized, and self-motivated, with meticulous attention to detail on tasks involving the conceptualization, development, and execution of various communications projects. Projects might include but are not limited to writing, editing, and/or preparing professional written materials; management of social media content; presentation editing and branding; design and coordination for digital and print advertising; internal communications; website maintenance; and drafting/editing other communications materials.

Critical to the success of the Communications Specialist is the ability to manage multiple projects and independently prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines while demonstrating outstanding verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and follow-through. This position will require establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a large and diverse workforce and with external communications outlets, as assigned.

If selected for an interview, candidates will be asked to provide examples of relevant work to demonstrate creative thinking and attention to detail.

Location: Remote with onsite work as needed in Round Rock (work at other locations might be necessary)

Salary: $20.55/hr

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalency; experience with writing, editing, and/or preparing written work materials, including internal staff communications, correspondence, and documents; demonstrated creative thinking and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and independently prioritize tasks; excellent time management to meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.
• 1-3 years of progressive communications experience.
• Healthcare knowledge in behavioral and intellectual developmental disabilities.
• Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications (i.e., Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.)
• Knowledge of WordPress, HTML, and other content management systems
