(3051) PADRES Peer Leader – Temporary Position

Job Description

Join a dynamic, passionate group of substance use disorder counselors, case managers, and counseling interns to make a difference in people’s lives! Our goal at Bluebonnet Trails Community Services (BTCS) is to establish and maintain a Peer Led Network for the BTCS’ Parenting Awareness and Drug Risk Education Services (PADRES) Program. BTCS’ PADRES Program Peer Leader will provide services as noted below:

1. Attendance of peer-led advisory committee meetings.

2. Develop, initiate, and participate in peer-led activities and events.

3. Assist and provide in-community-based events.

4. Assist, conduct, and provide alternative activities.

5. Provide advocacy and support to participants.

Peer-Led events are activities that include weekly supportive groups, events, or other activities. These activities may take place before, after, or on different days than educational groups to meet the needs of participants.

Community-based events may include presentations to groups of participants or staff at other programs, participation in resource or health fairs, other events hosted by PADRES to promote services to eligible individuals who are not currently open to services.

Alternative activities are group activities and events outside of educational group time. Alternative activities should be open to all eligible participants and their families for sober socialization, entertainment, artistic and creative expression, skill building, and to foster a supportive community around the program.

Advocacy and support may include activities that promote a positive peer culture at the Padres program or in the community.
