Job Description

The ECI Licensed Registered Dietician provides evaluation, program planning, and direct services to infants and toddlers, 0- 3 years old, who have developmental delays, certain medical diagnoses, or atypical development. All services are based on the family’s concerns and priorities and are provided in the child’s natural environment. All interactions with families and children use Trauma Informed Care principles and use the Coaching Model in the provision of services. The Coaching Model provides strategies and interventions, educational information, material, and emotional support to families while allowing families to have a voice and choice in the services. In ECI, the Licensed Registered Dietician is a member of an interdisciplinary team and may be the primary service provider or act as consultant to the family and other team members. Intervention is embedded in the typical activities of daily living for the child and family. This position requires travel, independence, and skills in oral motor, feeding, counseling in nutrition principles, dietary plans, food selection and economics. The Licensed Registered Dietician for this position may work in any of the 6 counties ECI serves. The philosophy of the program and this position is to provide educational, material, and emotional support to families so the child can learn throughout the day in a variety of typical activities, and to support the attachment between the parent or primary caregiver and child. Services are provided in the setting where the child lives, learns, and plays. Services are provided in hybrid model of in-person and telehealth.

This position also provides Targeted Case Management/Case Management services to children and families enrolled in Early Childhood Intervention Services. Essential tasks include assessing needs and overseeing the coordination of the family’s access to resources. This position also ensures the family’s understanding of rights and advocacy.

This position is also responsible for planning and implementation of grant funded services through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program’s educational grant (SNAP-ED), to provide family-focused education for eligible ECI families that addresses healthy eating and nutrition, the benefits of an active lifestyle and the primary prevention of chronic diseases.

This position is also responsible for YES Waiver Nutritional Counseling: Nutritional counseling assists Waiver participants in meeting their basic and/or special therapeutic nutritional needs. This includes but is not limited to counseling Waiver participants in nutrition principles, dietary plans, food selection and economics.

Salary: $27.14 – $33.89/hr

Applicable Differentials:

Up to $2.00/hour – Previous experience in a similar role with a community center

Up to $4.00/hour – Tenure with BTCS

$0.75 – Bilingual / ASL

Has potential to earn $200 service delivery incentives monthly

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications: Must have valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved driving status throughout employment. As a Licensed Registered Dietitian, meets all licensure and training requirements as specified for the state of Texas Board of Examiners of Dietitians. At least two years’ experience working with dietary needs of families of children with special needs. Knowledge of and experience working with infants and toddlers with developmental needs.

Preferred Qualifications: Comprehensive knowledge of typical and atypical development in children birth to three years old
Comprehensive knowledge of childhood conditions that relate to the provision of early intervention services
Comprehensive knowledge of and understanding of team and family dynamics.
Ability to contribute as a leader and facilitator on teams which include parents, caregivers, and other professional staff.
Ability to perform under minimal supervision with considerable requirements for initiative, discretion, independent thought, judgment and self-motivation in matters of significance to families as well as the agency.
Well developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, time management/organization skills, and basic computer skills.
Ability to independently conduct discussions and formulate recommendations which commit the agency financially
Ability to comprehend and adhere to family-centered, activity-based early intervention practices.
Ability to work sensitively with families from a variety of cultural orientations.
Preferred: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish
