Job Description

This position performs community-based and clinic-based professional nursing duties as assigned to individuals receiving crisis services. This nurse must possess strong knowledge of the principals, methods, and practices of working with adults, adolescents, and children – experiencing a behavioral health, substance use, IDD or autism related crisis.

Responsibilities include crisis assessments, admission assessments, medication administration and monitoring, education regarding diagnosis, providing RN delegation and training to individuals and families. The RN will provide physical assessments and treatment planning as needed. The nurse will communicate with all programs and medical treatment teams to ensure continuity of care.

This nurse must have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse cultures, socio-economic populations, and community partners such as local law enforcement, emergency medical services, medical emergency departments, schools, shelters, and others. Tasks and documentation of services are provided in accordance with accepted legal and ethical nursing standards.

Directed/supervised by the Crisis Nurse Manager for clinical matters such as, but not limited to medications, pharmacy, injections, genetic testing, phlebotomy/laboratory matters and clinical assessments. Directed/supervised by the Crisis Director for administrative matters such as, but not limited to requesting time off, scheduling and office flow. Personnel concerns will be addressed in coordination by both the Crisis Nurse Manager & Crisis Director.

Hourly Salary Range: $45.39 – $52.14

Differential Detail:

  • $1.00/hour, two years experience in a similar position
  • Up to $4.00/hour, tenure with BTCS
  • .75/hour, Bilingual
  • $1.00/hour, Wilco crisis differential

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications:
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas with at least 1-year recent nursing experience.
Ability to work collaboratively and be part of a multidisciplinary professional team.
Pass a standard State and Federal background check.
Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS office applications.
Current CPR certification.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved Driver’s License throughout employment.


Preferred Qualifications:
BSN.
ANCC Certification.
Experience in a psychiatric acute treatment unit, psychiatric home care, psychiatric outpatient clinic or any other clinic-based setting.
Case Management experience.
Experience in working with the IDD population.
Bilingual-Spanish and or ASL.
Salary Amount$96,491.00 - $108,451.00 /year
